    All members have access to the Student Council Google Classroom.

      Meeting Schedule

      • Student Council will generally meet the first Wednesday of the month that school is in session immediately after school in room 506.  In person attendance is not required.  Any student wishing to participate may attend meetings virtually.  Additional meetings for planning will be scheduled throughout the year as needed.

        Upcoming Meeting Dates

        • We will meet briefly during lunch 10/15 to determine a meeting schedule which will then be posted
        • There will be a meeting on Friday, October 1st at 3:00 PM for ALL presidential candidates.  Candidates MUST be present in order to run for office.
        • Our first meeting of the year will be held on Monday, September 20th period 6 in room 506.  Please see Mrs. Potter or Mrs. Buskey if you are interested in running but cannot attend the meeting.

      Officer Responsibilities

      • President:

        • Work with vice president and secretary to develop meeting agenda
        • Communicate ideas to administration
        • Seek out opportunities for community outreach
        • Lead all meetings
        • Participate in events
        • Promote events 

        Vice President:

        • Work with president and secretary to develop meeting agenda
        • Work with president and secretary to develop meeting agenda
        • Communicate ideas to administration
        • Seek out opportunities for community outreach
        • Lead all meetings, participate in events, promote events
        • Assume president’s duties if needed  assume president’s duties if needed 

        Secretary:

        • Work with president and vice president to develop meeting agenda
        • Create meeting agenda and share with advisors three days before meeting
        •  Taking notes during all meetings
        • Maintain attendance records for meetings and events
        •  Participate in events
        • Promote events
        • Work with social media chairs to create advertisements to promote events 

        Social Media Chair: 

        • Take pictures of student events/activities and share on social media
        • Work with the secretary to create advertisements to promote events
        • Participate in events
        • Promote events
        • Must follow code of conduct when posting to social media 

      Qualifications

      • Officer positions will be open to students who meet the following requirements:

        1. 90% average with satisfactory or above grades in all specials (current average, final averages from 6th and 7th grade)
        2. Faculty recommendation (completed petition)
        3. Good record of citizenship in school and community 
        4. Good school attendance 

        In addition to these requirements, officers must agree to: 

        • Represent the school’s best interest when making decisions
        • Attend a minimum of 80% of the morning/lunchtime meetings
        • Attend a minimum of 80% of the Student Council events (eg. Student Council school dances, fundraisers, etc.)
        • Participate in a minimum of 75% of student council fundraisers (eg. creation of posters, loudspeaker announcements, representative, etc.)  
        • Act as a role model for the students of SBS
        • Fulfill specific duties associated with the office he/she has been elected to serve for a one year term
