Dear SBS Parents and Guardians, June 23, 2026
I hope this Email finds you setting your sights on our near Summer Break with family plans and schedules in place. I would like to take this time to tell you about Shrewsbury Borough School’s Mathematics and Summer Reading Work.
To practice specific targeting skills for each student, iReady’s personalized “My Path” meets each child exactly where he or she is at, providing targeted domain-specific instruction in areas of need. Log-in information is the same as during the school year; students should log-into their SBS Google accounts and access the platforms via Clever. If you don’t know your child’s Google login please ask your child’s homeroom teacher.
While all students in grades 5 through 8 are required to complete mandatory summer reading and math assignments, our K through 4 teachers have put together suggested readings along with reading/phonics, writing/handwriting, and math skills for each grade level. One doesn’t need to look further than the decades-long research on the Summer Slide in Mathematics and Reading to see the importance of keeping up with math and reading skills during the long Summer Break.
SBS values the commitments that families make to ensure our students maintain the academic successes made over the 2025-2026 school year. I highly encourage all families to make use of the Eastern Branch of the Monmouth County Library card; its “Unearth A Story” Summer Reading Incentive Program offers rewards to readers of all ages.
Sincerely,
Cheryl L. Salway
