District Goals 2025-2026
District Goal 1 (Academic): Mathematics
The Shrewsbury Borough School District will increase K-8 mathematics achievement by utilizing iReady Diagnostic Domains and NJSLA District Evidence tables to target NJSLS Mathematics standards that are weakest at each grade level. All grade levels will focus on solving multi-step word problems based on grade level standards.
Action Steps: PDP and SGO formations focused on lowest performing areas as indicated by NJSLA Spring 2025 District Evidence Tables, PDP goal directed at increasing achievement in multi-stepped problem solving.
District Goal 2: Building A Positive School Climate for Students, Staff, and Family/Caregivers
Overall School Climate Goal: The Shrewsbury Borough School District will analyze the results from the Spring 2025 NJ School Climate Improvement (NJ SCI) Survey and compare them with the results of the Spring 2024 survey to create targeted SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) school climate goals staff, students, and parents/community members.
Goal for Staff: Over 9% of staff members will report that negative interpersonal behaviors among students is “not a problem" at Shrewsbury Borough School in the Spring 2026 NJSci School Climate Survey.
Action Steps: Pre-planning for First Fridays with allotted time during professional development days and faculty meetings
Goal for Students: Over 31% of students will report that negative interpersonal behaviors is “not a problem” at Shrewsbury Borough School in the Spring 2026 NJSci School Climate Survey.
Action Steps: Monthly/Bimonthly Activities based on the Six Pillars of Characters
Goal for Parents/Caregivers: Over 8% of parents will report that negative interpersonal behaviors is “not a problem” at Shrewsbury Borough School in the Spring 2026 NJSci School Climate Survey.
Action Steps: Partaking in First Friday Activities with Six Pillars of Character Incorporation
Board of Education Goals
Goal 1 Support administration and staff in the endeavor to implement activities to address what was learned from the climate and culture survey.
Goal 2 Continue to support administration and staff in their endeavors in the alignment of curriculum implementation of the new ELA and Math standards.
Goal 3 Streamline communications to the school community while focusing on increasing stakeholder awareness of information of interest and providing highlights of staff, students, and programs.

As such, if you have not already, we urge you to direct all questions to the Chief School Administrator, who will work with the Board in formulating a response, if appropriate. - Any correspondence to the Board should be addressed to the full Board. The Business Administrator/Board Secretary (casel@sbs-nj.org) must be copied on all correspondence sent to the Board.
- Only correspondence that is addressed to the Members of the Board of Education (which includes the Superintendent) and copied to the Business Administrator/Board Secretary will appear on the agenda under the heading of Communications.
Becoming a Board Member
To become a member of a local Board of Education in New Jersey, you must meet the following legal requirements:
- Be able to read and write;
- Hold citizenship and one year's residency in the school district;
- Have no interest in any contract with, or claim against the Board;
- Not hold office as mayor or member of the municipal governing body; and
- Be registered to vote in the district and not be disqualified as a voter underΒ N.J.S.A. 19:4-1
Any community member that qualifies with the above legal requirements and would like to become a member of the Shrewsbury Board of Education, should obtain aΒ Candidacy Kit.
Petitions for school board candidates for the November election are available for pick up at the County Clerkβs Election office located at 300 Halls Mill Road, Freehold, NJ 07728, by mail at the same address, by calling 732-431-7790, or on the New Jersey School Boards Association website.
