OCTOBER NEWS FROM ROOM 203
Wow! September flew and we are now in October. We are getting comfortable with one another and are learning the class routines and rules. October is a very busy but exciting month in Kindergarten. Some of the themes that we will be focusing on are: Apples, pumpkins, Red Ribbon Week, Columbus Day, Fire Safety, Halloween, Special Child and Mystery Reader.
We are looking forward to our class trip to Wemrock farms on Thursday, October 19th. A reminder will be sent home as the trip gets closer. Please make sure that your permission slip/money is sent in as soon as possible.
We will be starting Mystery Reader this month and Special Child. Please make sure that you check your Mystery Reader date and send me your clues a week prior to the reading day. Also, please make sure that you mark your child's special child date on your calendar.
Please make sure that you are sitting with your child and reviewing the homework with them each and every night. Also, please practice the trick words as well as part of their homework routine. Please remember to help your child develop good study habits by providing a quiet spot for homework each night. Please also read with your child and have them go on the Raz Kids program if they have not done so already. *** PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT ALL HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS ARE SIGNED AND CHECKED.
These are the trick words learned so far: I, the, my, is, a, like
Please practice number words with your children as well: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, zero.
The children will be going outside for recess everyday unless it is raining or extremely cold. Please keep this in mind when helping your child select clothing for the day. Feel free to leave an extra jacket/sweatshirt in your child's cubby labeled incase the temperature fluctuates outside and inside too : )
Please also remember to review the classroom rules with your children daily and remind them to make good choices in the classroom. We are preparing them for first grade!
I truly welcome and expect to have a very close relationship with my students and parents. To that end, I am providing contact information, which will include my e-mail address in order for the parents to have access to me. As such, I am looking forward to an exciting educational year where ALL students will succeed.
